Cartagena’s freedom vibes 🔥

One place that truly touched me in Cartagena’s old city is the Plaza de la Proclamacion, or ‘Proclamation Square’ in English.

What i loved about it is how each night, with the old cathedral in the background, the square comes alive with music, upbeat percussions, energetic dances, colorful dresses and fiery torches.

And the dances became more meaningful to me when i learned the story of this square. Picture this: way back in 1811, brave rebels stormed into the square, surrounded the colonial government building, and demanded equal rights and independence. They forced the city leadership to declare independence from Spain right then and there, and that’s how this square got its name.

As a result, Cartagena became one of the very first cities in all of Latin America to be free from colonialism.  And it took place in that exact spot where the dances are happening. How inspiring is this?

It was no easy path to get there. Cartagena’s independence came after centuries of struggles, captivity, racism and slavery. And even after declaring independence, they had to fight many battles to keep it.

It’s an epic story that mirrors much of our shared human history, and speaks to our universal values, no matter where we come from.

Hearing the music while imagining all this history felt so moving and uplifting to me.

It’s like connecting with this wild energy that moves in all of us too, the spirit of rising up against the odds, the passion to celebrate life despite all.

Show your true colors – Barranquilla style

Landmark monuments are often conventional, restrained and gray… but not in Barranquilla!

I was struck by the how colorful and vibrant the Barranquilla landmark monument is.

They call it: ‘Ventana Al Mundo’, or Window to the World.. a symbol of the city’s openness to the world.

What inspires me is how confidently this coastal city projects a joyful spirit and embraces celebration of life.

Show your true colorsUnknown to many, this city in Colombia hosts the second largest music carnival in the whole world, second only to Rio De Janeiro. Each year the whole city comes alive with music and dance and colorful exuberant costumes.

Barranquilla also has a vibrant culture and is home to a rich history of indigenous, African, European, and Caribbean roots.

It is also the hometown of the famous Colombian singer Shakira. They made a statue for Shakira there in her honor, i wish i had a chance to visit it.

I only spent few hours in Barranquilla but it made a lasting impression on me.

I believe we all have colorful personalities but oftentimes we hide and tone it down. This city invites us to audaciously express ourselves and show our true colors too.

Cheers to Barranquilla! 🇨🇴

Spiritual Liberation

Spiritual liberation! 🔥

Isn’t it time for all religions to live in peace and harmony together? 😔

Isn’t it time that spirituality becomes a source of unity and personal emancipation, rather than division and mental indoctrination? 😔

Yes it is time!

That’s what I believe, and that’s why it was very touching for me to meet one of my favorite modern spiritual teachers in the world: Michael Bernard Beckwith!

During my event with Mindvalley in Portugal, Michael Beckwith was a guest speaker, and he spent 4 days with us, attending classes with us, partying and dancing with us, even sailing and hanging at the pool with us 🏊🏼‍♂️. (hence our casual photo in summer look!) 😊

Coming from the Middle-East where faith in God, and belief in the prophets and holy books, is often a source of conflicts, separation, dogmas and violence, i can only have deeper appreciation and respect to spiritual teachers like Michael Beckwith who teach the principles of spiritual unity, and promote harmony between all religions and faiths, and solidarity and peace among all people.

As a boy growing up in the Middle East, specially in my country Lebanon, religions seemed to me more like political entities and identities, rather than heartfelt spiritual faiths. I had so many questions about religions, and spirituality, and God, and the purpose of life, but in those days Google did not yet exist, and no one around me was able to explain to me in a convincing manner about these mysterious revelations that we were supposed to follow. Sure enough, it didn’t take me long, together with many of my liberal city peers, to turn away from religions and spirituality and from all what they stood for.

It was only later in life, through experiences of personal awakening and self explorations, that I became more receptive to spiritual teachings, more and more appreciative to what prophets, saints and religions were trying to say and achieve, and more perceptive and believing in this Force that pervades and moves everything, call it God, Universe, Allah, Source, Energy, or whatever you wish.

And as I immersed myself in discovering the world of spirituality, it was modern teachers like Michael Beckwith, and others like Eckhart Tolle or Deepak Chopra, that best articulated this holistic spiritual faith that i was beginning to discover. A faith that does not contradict religions, and rather embraces spiritual unity regardless of everyone’s religious faiths.

Michael Beckwith, just as all enlightened spiritual teachers, including the biggest prophets,

teaches the universal principles that can be found in all religions. The principles of spiritual unity and of surrender. The principles of being kind to one another, helping the needy, being just, and fair, and compassionate. They all promote practices like prayers 🤲, meditations 🧘‍♀️, and communal rituals, that are meant to allow us to be more in tune with our spiritual essence, and more supportive to one another.

What I also love is how teachers like Beckwith can gracefully marry a deep faith in in the divine, while at the same time fully embracing modernity and scientific progress. They express a vision of spiritual faith that unites rather than divides, that enhances rather than limits our life, that is a source of trust rather than fear, that brings freedom rather than mental captivity.

And they teach that we are all one, that we are all connected. And that all religions ultimately come from the same source, and have the same essence.

Sure, there are differences between the various religions and spiritual traditions in the world, differences in rituals, differences in emphasis, historical differences, linguistic differences, differences in interpretations and practices, but I believe the essence of the various spiritual teachings are one. I believe that there is way more that unites us, than what divides us. And even what’s different between us, is a source of richness, and ought not be a source of conflicts.

Back to Michael! 🙂

I discovered Michael many years ago in the movie the Secret, and he immediately struck me by how articulate he is, how elegant his language was, and by his ability to infuse emotions in his words. And so I went on to follow him and study his programs, read his books, and listen to his podcasts. His book, Spiritual Liberation, is a book I deeply cherish, as it brought me great strength and inspiration on my journey. He was clearly to me someone who had experienced some sort of enlightenment or awakening.

And let me tell you also the story of how I met him! 😁

Michael was actually one the very few first people that i bumped into in Portugal during Mindvalley’s Afest. It happened on the first day and the very first moment as I arrived to the hotel in Carvoeiro to check in to my hotel room, a man was in front of me in the hotel check-in queue. I didn’t recognize this man from behind, but then suddenly he turned to speak to someone, and I realized who he was. Michael! 😮 I couldn’t help but greet him with strong emotion and affection, hug him, and tell him how much I loved him and appreciated him and his work. After all, this was the man whose voice was playing in my ears for years during my early morning guided meditations.

He looked at me cheerfully and said: well, you have a nice way to greet people! 🙂

So i went on to tell him how much I appreciated his spiritual teachings and holistic faith, and how much this is so needed in the world today, specially in regions like the Middle East that is still suffering from religious conflicts. And I also told him that as someone who comes from the muslim faith, it really saddens me to see how many narrow-minded interpretations of Islam are currently affecting negatively our world and contributing to intolerance or violence. And I told him with spontaneity that I wish something could be done about it, that I wish too I could one day do something about it.

He looked at me with a big smile, and replied: well, this may be your Dharma! And he winked! 😉

And at this instant the hotel receptionist called him to check in and our conversation ended. And that was the first encounter between me and Michael. An encounter that makes me happy and that I will always remember.

And I surely hope to meet him again! 🙏

Magical Life

Aladdin

🌟What is a magical life? 🌟

Is it always great, happy, feeling good? I wish, but that’s not how it works. We live in a world of duality. As long as we live, there’ll be ups and downs, good and bad, beauty and ugliness.

Is it a life where you succeed in everything you do, where you accomplish all your desires? Oh I would have loved that! But that’s not the case. Defeat, failure, loss, pain.. are always a part of life! Even the greatest of our human legends and heroes have had their full share of failure, deception and grief.

So what is it then?
And does a magical life even exist? 🤔

To me, the turning point in my life that made all the difference, is when one day, many years ago, I dared to have a dream. I wanted to explore the world. To travel to places that are so far from the beaten track. To help people in need. To embark on a spiritual quest. To sleep under the stars. To follow my heart in a world that i was so hungry to experience, so hungry to explore.

I had no idea how to get there. I was just a freshly graduate engineer, studying my MBA in Paris. I was on a student loan to pay my university. A good corporate job in a big city seemed the best thing that life could offer me. A ‘good job’ was the path for which I was raised, educated and trained. But I couldn’t do it. 😞

I remember vividly that day on my French business school campus where all the big companies were coming to ‘recruit us’, we the freshly- graduate bright talents.

What I had to do was to wear a nice suit, look smart, print tens of copies of my CV, go around the booths, put in my CV applications for random companies i knew little about, applying to jobs where i had no idea what i’d be doing, to serve a mission i had no interest in. And then hope someone calls me back.

I didn’t want to do it.
And i burned my bridge.
I took the only suit i had at the time, and i donated it to charity.
I pledged to not wear any suit, and to not take part in the ‘campus recruitment’ day.
And by the time that campus day was happening, I had no suit to wear anyway! 😮

And I decided that I wouldn’t settle.
That i would figure it out.
That i’d follow my heart.
That i would dare chose a path of my own.
And that I’d fight for it if needs be.

And that was the day my life became magical. 🌟

When i made this decision, did my desire suddenly show up in my life? No.
Did i get everything i wanted? Hell no.
Was it easy? Was it always pleasurable? No
Did i doubt myself? was i scared? Oh yes!
Did i fail along the way? Many times.
Was there pain and loss on the path? Yes!
Have i fulfilled all my dreams and desires in my life? I wish, but no.
Is there even a guarantee i’ll ever fully make all my dreams true? No.

But all of that doesn’t diminish the magic.

Because that day something in me was born that i cherish beyond anything else.

A passion was born in me that i had not felt before.
I suddenly had a drive to conquer.
A reason to live.
A mission.
A destination.
A worthy fight.
A destiny to accomplish.
A fire burning in my heart. 🔥

And that’s really what makes life magical!

It’s not the accomplishments or the trophies.

It’s the passion, the mission, the striving, that give life its juice!

Since that day, my life has never been ordinary. I was never bored. I could be well, i could be unwell, but one thing is sure, I was never ever bored!

I ended up starting my career as a humanitarian worker. I traveled to places that i’d never dreamt of knowing. I lived in cultures so different of my own that it stretched my identity. I’ve been to war zones and to natural disasters, also to earthly paradises like i’ve never seen before.

But more importantly than all, I got to discover and know who i was. To find peace and faith in my own heart. To find friendship with myself, and connection with my own spirit.

You see, magic happens the moment you decide you’ll pursue your dream. The moment you decide that you won’t settle for ordinary. The moment you commit to step up for it!

You’re only one decision away!

You can have it now, if you wish!

I don’t promise you it’ll be always easy, but trust me, you’ll never look back.

Rise up for your dream, and you’ll be filled with passion, drive, fire, and spirit.. 🔥🔥

and isn’t that the dream anyway?

Experiencing Totality

Nasaeclipse13nov2012

I knew the total solar eclipse would be magnificent. I expected it to be an extraordinary natural phenomena. I thought it would be wonderful to watch.

And it was all of this.

But it was also more!

There was this magic moment. This brief moment when the moon entirely covers the sun. The moment of Totality.

Suddenly, everything changes so dramatically.

When the last ray of sun disappears behind the moon, darkness suddenly descends on Earth. And at this very moment something stunning happens. The ring of fire appears around the moon. The sun corona, the diamond ring. This ring is not visible when the eclipse is still partial. It only appears at the exact moment of Totality. Suddenly, the moon appears as a black circle in the middle of the sky surrounded by a ring of fire, and like a fiery cosmic eye, it reigns supreme in a moment when time seems to stop, with sublime glory and stunning beauty.

When Totality hits… the whole world suddenly and magically shivers..

It’s extraordinarily dramatic. Climactic. Epic. Euphoric.

Totally overwhelming. Awe-inspiring. Goosebumping. Tear-giving. Hypnotising.

A luminous moment of eternity. A glimpse of creation. A cosmic orgasm.

When Totality passed, everything felt so suddenly calm and peaceful. I was speechless.

And it left me intoxicated.

Attempting to make sense of it. Struggling to rationally comprehend.

What was that ?? What has happened??

I honestly still don’t know.

But it was real. And it was big.

We experienced it. In a glimpse, we saw it. In a flash, we felt it.

An awakening to life’s wonder

A pull towards a different dimension.

An ascent out of time and space

A taste of the divine.

A sip of ecstacy.

I am honestly still shaken.. enchanted..

And I know this day will forever live in me..

To remind me, in my moments of doubt..

That life is sublimely magic!

——–

And to all the beautiful people I met in this mountain in Palu

And to all my friends and beloved ones

To the Power that moves the sun and the moon, and that beats the heart in my own chest

Thank you for all the blessings you bring to my life

I love you all!

Me, Bassem Youssef and the Egypt Revolution

Image

Tahrir Square, during my visit to Cairo in April 2012

I was taken over by such a strong sudden and strange feeling few days ago, that I am still trying to explain.

From the moment I read the statement by the Egyptian Army Commander on 30 Jun 2013, clearly taking sides in the political events in Egypt and giving an ultimatum of 48 hours before intervening, I was filled with an overwhelming feeling of refusal, anger and indignation.

Prior to that, I was following with interest the developments in Egypt. Being a liberal myself and a huge supporter of Arab Spring, I was enjoying watching the dynamic political landscape in Egypt and the aliveness of the newly born civil society there. Bassem Youssef for me became the best embodiment of the principles of our revolution: Freedom of speech, creativity, liberalism, and genius.

To me, having Bassem (with what Bassem culurally represents) was alone worth all the Arab springs. It was so amazing for me to watch extremism and social conservatism be “destroyed” by sharp jokes, creative production and extremely smart humour. I was a fan, and a follower, of Bassem, and of the new Egypt.

Thanks to Bassem, I was was getting familiar with the Egyptian news, the political intrigues, the Tamarod campaign, and like most people I was hoping for change and improvements in Egyptian governance that would mirror the aspirations and ambitions of the youth and of the people like Bassem. When the Tamarod campaign kicked in, and the large number of protests started taking place, I was happy to watch democracy in the making, and was certain that change would be achieved thanks to popular pressure.

But then… I heard the General Sisi statement.

Its inappropriateness, its illegitimacy, its arrogance, its gross interference in political life, its pledge to use military force to shift power balance, offended my senses so deeply. And the fact that the Army was positioning itself as the defensive of liberal democratic Egypt, and the fact that the so-called “liberal democratic” forces in Egypt were volunteering to justify in advance a military coup, is just as intolerable and offensive to basic common-sense and political correctness.

I couldn’t believe, and still can’t, that such blunder and abuse of power could be made by the so called liberals, including Bassem Youssef and his supporters. I would have personally preferred waiting few weeks or even few months to achieve the desired change in a proper way, then achieve it immediately, the wrong way.

I guess part of me sensed, instinctively, how dangerous such a move is and how much it would backfire and lead to the opposite result. I truly believe it’s wrong, it’s immature, it’s shorsighted, it’s unfair, it’s driven by anger not wisdom, in short, it’s bad!

And I wanted to scream: NOOOOOO.

But the scenario was already written, everyone seemed blinded by high emotions. And who could hear me, anyway.

And the rest is history. Detention, house arrests, humiliation, persecution, shutting down of media outlets, indignation, division of society, mass protests, hatred and intolerance from all sides. And it’s just the beginning.

I honestly feel sad about it. It could have been a different way.

Indeed hatred and frustration can only breed hatred and frustration. Only wisdom, tolerance, compassion and patience could triumph over extremism and hardships.

And I was left to the horror of watching Egypt fall, and more painful, watching well-meaning people cheer about a disaster.

These moments happen in history, and they are painful and take time to heal.

Jesus himself was convicted to the cross with a cheering euphoric crowd. “Barrabas, Barrabas”, everyone was screaming when Jesus was the one chosen to die and Barrabas the criminal was set free.

Little did people realise at the time, that they had killed their biggest prophet, their own “Saviour”.

And fire works and military jets were illuminating the Cairo skies after the coup took place.

And little did people realise, that they had just killed their own democracy, and their own social pact and unity.

When hatred prevails, there is no winner.

Love your enemy, wasn’t it the eternal commandment?

You don’t beat hatred and oppression by hating and oppressing yourself.

I believe what happened is wrong. It needn’t be this way.

Am sorry to say the truth, I know people wouldn’t like it.

—-

And now, I let it all go.

These emotions serve me no more.

What will be, will be.

Egypt road now is rocky. One day, the Light will show at the end of the tunnel.

And sooner or later, all people will realise, that before electricity and economy and employment, there is Love, and mutual Respect, and Solidarity, and Compassion, and Peace, and Unity.

These are the sources of wealth and prosperity.

These are the real liberation, and the only true salvation.

Until then, yes the revolution shall continue.

And so let it be.

Let the Sun Shine In

hair let the sun shineWhat do you do when you face deep disappointment?

What do you do when you see people you love suffer, like your family, or close friends, or yourself?

What do you do when you see innocent people killed unjustly, like what is happening in Syria now?

What do you do when you wake up and you see a beautiful sun, and wonderful world, and then you see wars and poverty underneath it?

What do you do when you feel trapped and your soul is longing for salvation?

Tell me what do you do?

Can you live with these feelings as if they don’t exist?

Do you bury them in your heart?

Or maybe you just become numb and feel nothing?

As for me…

It feels like a raging fire in my heart.

It feel like lava inside of me mounting and wanting to erupt.

It feels like tornadoes and tsunamis wanting to ravage it all.

I never accepted misery and mediocricy. I still don’t.

I believe life is wonderful and beautiful. That’s it’s a blessing.

And the only thing that makes me feel better is to promise myself.

Yes promise out loud, secretly in my heart, to change it all.

And I have visions.

Colorful tearful beautiful visions.

We shall rise in joy and weap out ignorance.

We shall  unite and live in peace and beauty.

We shall love and prosper and break free.

And I promise it to myself.

To all my beloved family and friends.

And to the whole world.

Yes it will happen.

Yes it is happening.

You might not feel it, but I do.

So let’s hold each other hands..

Let’s dance and sing out loud..

Let’s pray all together..

Let the Sun Shine In.

Listen and feel this wonderful song. One of the most beautiful freedom songs ever made!

Sunrise Feeling

mountain victory

Hit me with your pain, and I shall thank you.

Hit me with weakness, and I will make it my strength.

Hit me with destruction, and I will build myself stronger.

Hit me with deception, and I shall believe more.

Hit me with your hatred, and I will only love.

On your ruins I shall dance.

In your poverty I will thrive.

In your darkness I shall shine.

No you can’t hold me anymore

Oh can’t you see… ???

Am already free!

The Time Has Come

In the life of every champion, there comes a time for victory.
The time has come.

In the story of every freedom struggle, there comes a time for liberation.
The time has come.

And when the mother’s womb gets pregnant with life, there comes a time for birth.
The time has come.

When pain arise and molds characters with its power, there comes a time for relief.
The time has come.

And for every soul that yearns for life, there comes a time for redemption.
The time has come.

For every broken heart yearning for healing, there comes a time for love.
The time has come.

When the lava starts shaking the underground earth, there comes a time for eruption.
The time has come.

And when the night breaks into dawn, there comes the time for the rise of the sun.
The time has come.

And when the wars rage and roar

And when the destiny of man unfolds

When the miseries shadow the glory of Life

And when ignorance seems to bury the Light

There comes the time for Resurrection…

Everyone watch out.. the time has come!

And here I am, filled with awe

Sighing from relief, with tears of joy

I thank you for everything my Lord.

For yes I know…

My time has come!

After all, I love New Year celebrations!

This day we call New Year..
Just a normal day dated 31 December, when the clock tick past 12 PM, and here it is, the New Year!
It’s almost absurd.. at least that’s how I came to perceive it in the last few years of my life.
As a teenager and college student, New Year was a big thing!
We would wait for it, prepare it in advance, plan for it, anticipate it, dream about it..
What will you do on New Year?
It seemed that this question dominated our thoughts even weeks before the actual date!

Of course this hype didn’t last.
One day I grew up. I became mature. Philosophical. Spiritual.
The New Year thing became a silly obligation.
Gosh, what the hell does it mean anyway?
I’d rather not be there on that day. Just let it pass with the least harm possible.
Sending few messages to those who would feel hurt if I don’t send them messages.
Finding a safe place to spend this dangerous 12 PM clock-ticking time.
I was feeling “above” the crowd and their mundane occupations.
Smarter than to be fooled or carried away by some meaningless rituals.

But yesterday, I had a change of heart!
Spending a lovely night with my girlfriend in Jakarta, we went to a mall nearby our place at 10PM to see what was happening.
It was just a normal shopping mall place, among tens of other malls in this huge city.
Nice open area, many restaurents, bars, starbucks and cafes.
Some shows, and some dancing by funnily dressed up people.
Few DJs, sound system, lighting, and hundreds of people wandering around.
Honestly it was absurd.
The show was OK, but you wouldn’t go specifically for it or pay for to watch it!
The music was OK.. but again it wasn’t much different than the music at the gym..
And there was lot’s of people. It was hard to find a place even to sit for a while!
The atmosphere was getting at the edge of suffocating.
Gosh.. I started wondering whether I wanted to be there!

But then something magic started to happen..
Few minutes before the 12PM time, all people gathered in that big alley.
It seemed like “something” was about to arrive..
People were blowing trumpets like crazy.
The sounds were getting high. Screaming. Whistling.
Drumming. Anticipation. Suspense.
5, 4, 3, 2, 1
And the scene explodes!
Balloons fell from the sky.
Music played hard and loud.
People started hugging and kissing each other.
Young and old jumping, raising hands, dancing to the music..

And then the party started.
Dancing, moving, shaking.
Young people break-dancing on the floor.
Fathers carrying their kids on their shoulders and moving around.
Kids blowing trumpets and whistling.
Smoke coming out from the DJ boot.
Guys spilling snow-like sprays all over the place.
DJs rocking the stage with loud music..
It was amazing!
Incredible energy started flowing out.
It seemed at this moment that all worries and life problems vanished…
Everyone joined the celebration.

And then I understood.
31 December is nothing.
12 PM is nothing.
“New Year” is nothing.
It was all so special only because WE CHOSE to make it so.
We decided to make it a happy moment, a celebration, and a jubilation.
An opportunity to connect with those we love and to wish them well.
And so it was!

And I was so touched.
We humans have really so much un-expressed love in ourselves to share.
Going into the cycles of life, many of us spend days and years in struggles.
In un-fulfilling jobs. In financial worries. In relationship problems.
Sometimes we forget the joy.
Sometimes we miss the happiness.
But deep in our heart we only crave one desire.
To jump and to scream freely and happily.
To dance. To hug. To connect. To love.

And I felt part of it.
I wholeheartedly surrendered to this flow.
I realized how much I am also part of this humanity.
I share what it shares. I hope what it hopes.
And me too, i crave to dance, to hug, to connect, and to love.

And I got the biggest lesson of all.
Our attitude in life and what we feel.. depends on us.
It’s in our power to create happiness and celebrations.
It’s in our power to choose to be joyful when we want.
The 12PM ticking time is nothing but an excuse for us to exercise this power!
Any moment in our life can be like 31 December on 12PM.
At any moment we can blow the trumpets, we can turn on the music, we can dance, and jump.
Just like we do it on 31 December, so we can do it every day, in our little moments of life.
We can decide to be happy, we can choose to be joyful
We can celebrate that we are alive!

And I realized that after all, the New Year is beautiful.
It is beautiful to join each other to celebrate life.
I realized how much humanity is craving connection..
And how much being human is wonderful too.
In its silliness, in its innocence, in its vulnerability and its childishness..
Yes it feels good to be human.
To get carried with music.
To blow whistles and to jump.
To hug and to feel love.
Yes I realized that after all, I love the New Year celebrations!

You know, the sun shines every day..
The moon keeps turning around the earth.
The earth gravitates around the Sun.
Seasons come, seasons go..
And it’s all eternal..
There is no New Year, no Old Year.
Calendar is an invention, dates are meaningless
And time is an illusion..

But our celebrations, our joys, our love.. are real.

Happy New Year to all! 🙂

Yes We Can See The Invisible! – Sufi Mystics Knew The Secret Too!

“How can I know you, and You are the inwardly hidden, not wishing to be known?
How can I not know You, and You are the outwardly manifest, wishing yourself to be known in everything”
What a wise Sufi saying that expresses so beautifully the universal truth! God or the Universal Force is non-visible to us, It is the inwardly hidden, pure consciousness that has no shape nor form. How can we know It?

But the inwardly hidden is the same as the outwardly manifest, that can be seen and touched and felt everywhere. So how can we not know It?

What’s fascinating is how this mystic poem written centuries ago echoes our modern-day spiritual and personal development teachings.

Our inner world creates our outer world, they are both the same. This is what the Secret book basically explains, this is what Sean Stephenson means when he says “Mentality creates Reality”, this is what quantum physicists refer to as “thoughts become things”.

Our inner world consists of what is invisible and intangible to us, such as our thougths, our believes, our feelings, our desires, our intentions…

Our outer world is what we label as our reality: our body, our job, our relationships, our environment, our finanical conditions, etc..

And of course you must know by now, to change our outer world, we need to change our inner world. But how to change this inner world that we can’t see, nor touch, and that most people aren’t even aware of?

How can we know what’s in-there in this invisible formless inner-world??

Well, it’s simple. Just look at your life!

None But Ourselves Can Free Our Minds – Inner Freedom The Bob Marley Way!

“Emancipate yourself from mental slavery
None but ourselves can free our minds “

Bob Marley, Redemption Song

Who doesn’t know Bob Marley? This freedom icon has penetrated the world consciousness with his music and message. Wherever you go on our planet, you’ll find Bob posters hanging, and you’ll hear his music playing. At an age where no internet no social networking existed, Bob transcended cultures around the world, uniting people from different countries, races and religions.

In the timeless Redemption Song, one of the last songs he ever wrote, Bob says it all: None but ourselves can free our minds!

These words take an even deeper meaning when we remember who Bob was. He was a descendant of black captives deported to Jamaica, and his people had suffered 400 years of slavery. In this song Bob calls people for freedom, but not freedom from external conditions, not freedom from political systems or freedom from outside chains… but freedom from mental slavery!

Yes Bob was an inspired mystic, and he knew the Secret too. Freedom, wealth, abundance, health, you name it, starts first and foremost in our mind!

Can you see that all inspired persons from different traditions, basically say the same thing? Whether it’s entrepreneurs or musicians, teachers or prophets, eastern or western, rasta or yoga.. the message is one: we’ve got to take responsibility of our lives, and it all starts in our minds!

So won’t you help to sing, this song of freedom…

Just Undo It! – How To Break Free Forever From Your To-Do List!

If you’re like most goal-oriented people , you probably organize your life with endless to-do lists that you make every night before you sleep and pursue every morning when you wake up.

You probably prioritize your to-do items, organize them in different categories, and take pleasure in checking them off once they’re done. But what is most probably true is that you continuously feel frustrated from all those items that remain undone, and from all those to-do things that keep on adding up on your lists as you go!

It seems that life is a race between you and your to-do list, a race that you can never really win! No doubt you feel stressed, overwhelmed and frustrated.

But that’s not your fault! It’s the fault of the primitive to-do system that we use to organize our lives!

So here we go.. let’s break free from it all!

Tony Robbins in his program Time of Your Life explains very powerfully why to-do lists are not efficient and why they cannot yield to a high quality of life.

It all comes back to this: what’s the question that you ask yourself in order to develop your to-do list? Obviously the guiding question is: What do I have to do? Or what do I need to do? Or what should I do?

According to Tony Robbins, this is a very disempowering question to guide our life with, because when we ask this question, our brain will certainly come up with all the shoulds and the musts and the tasks that need to be done! Our focus becomes centered on the tasks ahead, and we loose touch with our purpose and with the outcome that we desire, and worse of all, we rarely feel good about it especially when we need to do tasks that are not exciting nor pleasant.

The law of attraction teaches us that we should focus on the OUTCOME. We should see and feel the outcome in order to manifest it. That’s why focusing on the simple to-do items make us miss the whole point!

The law of attraction also teaches us that we should feel good about what we do! But how can we seriously feel good about en endless list of items that seem to be burdens and obligations on us? How can we not feel frustrated if our to-do list never seems to finish, and we feel that we’re not progressing at all?

In his Time of Your Life program, Anthony Robbins proposes a whole new alternative for managing our time, that he calls OPA = Outcome Purpose Action. In this system, we replace the question: “what do I need to do?” with 3 new empowering ones:

1- What is the most important outcome that I desire now?
When we answer this question and list the outcomes that we want, we get in touch with our desires, we see the end result of what we want to achieve, and we shift our focus to the result we need to manifest.

2- Why is this outcome so important to me now?
Here we list all the reasons we have to achieve the outcome, all the benefits we would get by achieving it, all the pains we would go through if we don’t. This question is designed to get us in touch with our purpose, and to quote Tony, to give us the fuel, the motivation, and the juice to pursue our outcome.

3- What actions can I take now to achieve my outcome?
Now we list all the actions we might take that would make us achieve what we want. Note that several different actions might lead to the same outcome we desire. So here we’ll be able to choose the action we’re most comfortable with, and without loosing sight of the outcome we desire.

So from now on, every morning or every night before you sleep, ask yourself the 3 questions above and write down your answers on a piece of paper. Not only you’ll keep your attention on the outcome that is most important for you, but you’ll also feel more motivated to take action, more free to choose your way, and more aligned with your purpose.

So drop that to-do list and forget about it, and clear your mind from all the stress feelings and overwhelms. Life is much more exciting and joyful than to manage it by a linear to do-list. So just undo it!

How about you? How do you manage your time and your days? How do you keep the balance between being a high achiever with lots of work “to do” and still feeling free and aligned? Do you use to-do lists or do you have any better way? Does this OPA system speak to you? Share with your feedback below!

Faith Building – The World Is Your Gym!

Believe.

Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve!

Believe it till you see it.

Ask, believe and receive.

Believe in your self. Have faith.

You can do it if you believe you can.

OK Ok we got it, we’ve got to believe! It is said everywhere and by almost everyone, in personal development teachings, in spiritual traditions, even in pop culture and our grandma wisdom!

But how can we actually believe? What does it mean to have faith? Many of us do understand what faith is conceptually, but when it comes to the real world, we’re not so sure of what it really is.

Faith is not this metaphysical abstract concept. Faith is a very down-to-earth attitude and behavior that we can learn and practise. And no it is not kneeling on your knees to pray, and not repeating endless mantras and affirmations.

To have faith comes back practically to 2 things:

1- Choosing always and always to interpret life events and circumstances with a thought that means “it’s going great”! Whatever happens in our life, we can interpret it the way we choose. When we have faith, we always choose the interpretation that supports us in the direction of our desires and dreams.

So to illustrate this for you, say for example that your business results are not doing well. Don’t think about bankruptcy, choose to think that it’s temporary, that you’ll learn a great lesson from it and that you’ll rebound incredibly. Say for example that a dear person to you is not connecting well with you, don’t think that you lost the person for ever, think that this is happening so you can connect together better and even stronger later. Say for example that you have a health problem, don’t think that you’ll get weaker in life, think that this sickness will make you adjust your life-style and emerge healthier. Say you had a painful experience in your past, don’t think that you’re damaged, think that it’s a blessing for you to overcome and be stronger and even help others.

You see, it’s up to you to interpret any event the way you like. If you have faith, whatever happens in your life, you automatically choose the interpretation that basically means: “that’s ok, i trust it’s for the best and it’s going to be great anyway!”. Now that’s faith!
Now let’s move on to the second pillar.2- Having faith is feeling calm and peaceful in the heart. Yes this is the feeling that practically faith comes down to. Whatever you face, even in the midst of turmoils, when your heart is calm, it means that you believe. It means that deep down you’re not scared because you know eveyrthing is going to be all right. It means that you trust things will always turn for the best.

So keep a check at your heart. When things start getting out of control or moving in an unwanted direction, do you loose your inner calm? Does you heart feel agitated? That means you don’t trust yet. And that you’ll attract to you what you fear.

Be always mindful of the heart muscle. Breathe deeply and focus on it till you feel it calm and warm. Focus on the physiology and the feeling. Yes it’s possible to keep the heart non-agitated! Imagine you’re in a business meeting but you feel bored and sleepy, don’t you still manage to keep your eyes open and a smile on your face? Well do the same for your heart! If you feel turmoil or unwanted life events, keep your heart calm through conscious control. If you’re able to maintain your heart calm and peaceful throughout the day and throughout your life events, watch out, your faith will make great things happen for you!

Conclusion:So now that you know what faith practically is, it’s time to exercise and to develop it. Just like you do weight-lifting to develop your muscles, you need to practice continuously the art of choosing always the “it’s going great” interpretation, and the discipline of keeping your heart calm at all times.

After few days and few weeks of practice, your faith muscle will be so strong, that you’ll be continuously vibrating the “I BELIEVE” energy, and life will prove it to you by making what you believe in become true!

And the good news is: you don’t need to go to the gym! The world is your gym! Every event and circumstance is a chance for you to practice your faith. And it’s also easier than lifting weights on a bench press, but Gosh a developed faith can give you incredibly more powerful results than a developed biceps!

Ok? so let’s go and hit our workout! 🙂

What does faith practically mean to you? How do you think we can better develop this unshakable trust that we’ll realize all our dreams? Please share with us below your insights too!

Screw it, Just Do It! – The One Life Lesson From Richard Branson

Just do It!

Introduction to the book ‘Screw It, Let’s Do It’ by Richard Branson

The press call me and my partners at virgin ‘Mavericks in paradise’. There’s no doubt that we tend to do things in a less stuffy way than most businesses – and I have ended up with two tropical islands to have fun on – so it must be true. And for me it works. I work hard and I play hard.

Though I have never followed the rules at every step, I have learned many lessons along the way. My lessons in life started at home when I was young. They carried on at school and in business from as early as my teens when i ran student magazine. I am still learning and hope I never stop. These lessons have done me good throughout my life. I have written them down and i hope that you will find something in these pages that might inspire you.

I believe i goals. It’s never a bad thing to have a dream, but I’m practical about it. I don’t sit daydreaming about things that are impossible. I set goals and then work out how to achieve them. Anything I want to do in life I want to do well and not half-heartedly. At school, I found reading and writing hard. Back then, Dyslexia wasn’t understood and my teachers just thought I was lazy. So taught myself to learn things by heart. Now I have a very good memory and it has become one of my best tools in business.

When I was starting out in life, things were more certain than they are those days. You had a career lined up, often the same one your father followed. Most mothers stayed at home. Today nothing is sure and life is one long struggle. People have to make choices if they are to get anywhere. The best lesson I learned was to just do it. It doesn’t matter what it is, or how hard it might seem, as the ancient Greek, Plato said. ‘The beginning is the most important part of any work’.

A journey of a thousand miles starts with that first step. if you look ahead to the end, and all the weary miles between, with all the dangers you might face, you might never take that first step. And whatever it is you want to achieve in life, if you don’t make the effort, you won’t reach your goal. So take the first step. There will be many challenges. You might get knocked back, bu in the end, you will make it. Good Luck!

a) Stallone’s incredible acting talents

In fact, Sylevester Stallone was a very beginning actor when he made Rocky I, with practically no experience in acting and no skills, not to mention his funny articulation and tilted jaw! As for his muscles, well how many body-builders exist in US? Surely that’s not a reason for his success, otherwise every big body-builder would have been a superstar! And for your information, the movie production and promotion cost was very low and incomparable to the movie success! As for the script, what’s so special about an action movies where the good guy struggles the whole movie and wins at the end?

Must be luck then?
That’s the most dangerous answer and the farthest from truth! If you believe it was luck that made the movie a legendary success, then you have to listen to this audio story and learn the real reason of Stallone’s rise to fame!Listen to the Rocky story as narrated by Tony Robbins. Oprah’s Secret – Witness The Incredible Power of Surrender!

Yes, Oprah’s knows the secret too, long before the Secret book was published!

But what else would you expect from the most successful woman in the media world who goes on inspiring millions people and touching countless lives with her work?

It is now confirmed: we can change our lives by changing the way we think. Our thoughts do shape our reality. By aligning our thoughts and feelings with what we want, we can manifest our desires in life. Is anyone still in doubt about that?

OK to those who aren’t familiar yet with the manifestation formula in the Secret Book, let us summarize it to you quickly: Ask, Believe and Receive.

You see it’s not enough to ask for what we want and to believe that we can get it, it’s also very important that we open ourselves to receiving it! Or to quote Eshter Hicks in “Ask and it Is Given” book, we need to allow our desires to manifest! This is where most of us get stuck, including Oprah!

But here’s the good news: we can unstuck ourselves and open up to the flow of the blessings that we desire into our lives.

How? By surrendering, by letting go!
Sometimes when we want something so bad, we have difficulty in letting go of our desire. But letting go is the ultimate act of trust that would release our desire to the universe. Before we surrender and let go, we’re not yet ready to receive. It is an essential and fundamental part of the manifestation process. So please, let go, and let God!
Watch this movie and witness the magic of surrendering your dream the Oprah’s way!
